Cow Hollow is a wealthy neighborhood within the flamboyant city of San Francisco. Cow Hollow is centrally located between the Marina District and Pacific Heights. This neighborhood previously known as Spring Valley, was full of springs, meadows and wildlife. In the 1880s people began to settle in the area and farming soon became the predominant activity here. It takes its name from these days gone by when cows would graze on the land. The area continued to prosper and impressive mansions were built in ornate Victorian style which can still be seen today. Cow Hollow developed so much that eventually the livestock were ordered out of the area to make way for exquisite homes.
Union Street is the center point within Cow Hollow and here overflowing with charm and tradition many art galleries and antique shops can be found. With an abundance of leisure and recreation activities, shopping and restaurants, Cow Hollow is a highly desirable place to live.
