Noe Valley is a primarily residential neighborhood within San Francisco and is located between the Castro and Mission districts. Noe Valley takes its name from Jose de Jesus Noe who was the last Mexican Mayor of Yerba Buena (now San Francisco). This somewhat upscale neighborhood, with real estate prices to match, offers an urban feel with all the amenities of a great city at your doorstep.
Noe Valley began to develop residentially at the end of the 19th century and provides even today many examples of the Victorian and Edwardian style architecture from this time. This area is famed for houses which have been built in the style of Italianate Row-Homes. A style common in working class areas in order to achieve maximum properties, in a cost effective manner. Today Noe Valley is no longer viewed as the working class area it once was and now has a reputation for being popular with urban professionals and families with young children.
